The land is important to the Logan family because it gives them a sense of freedom even though the times were not on the Logan's side because of their race. It also shows that anything is possible for them and even other families around them it shows this because they own their own land unlike many other families like the Avery's who unfortunately have to share crop off of Harlan Granger's land. The Logan's land belongs to them because there grandpa (Cassie's grandpa) bought the land from a Yankee who bought the land because Harlan Granger lost everything when the South lost the civil war. The Logan's are now defending their land because the former owner of the land Harlan Granger who like his mother wants the land and the town to be exactly like it used to be.The land now belongs to Hammer Logan and David Logan from there mother hopefully those two men will continue to save and keep the land. That was some history and reasons on the land that reminds the Logan's that they are lucky and keeps them proud.
