One character that I really respect is Mama (Mary) Logan because she is an excellent strong role model for her children and students in the community. She is clearly an educated and professional woman who loves to teach. She is committed to teaching the truth, as depicted in her lesson about slavery that went beyond the text book. She isn't afraid to stand up for what is right and speak her mind, whether to Mr. Anderson, Mr. Granger, or the school board. I admire her ability to stand up for herself in an intelligent and honest way. She is also willing to make sacrifices so that her children might have a better life someday. I believe that her example will have an enormous impact on all the young people she comes in contact with, inspiring them to also stand up for justice.

I think tha Mama is a character to be respected. Although she isn't really a main character. Not like Big ma, She comes up almost every chapter, she cares, and does'nt judge by apperence.

I agree she is a great role model for her kids because shes educated and a professional women . Although they did fired her off of her job which she truly loves she managed to help her family in some ways which is very amazing and astonishing . Although she isn't the main character she does sacrifice a lot for her kids to have a better life and future to teach them to stand up for them selves when the world decided to fight back .

I also agree that Mama should be respected the most. Just because she stays so positive and motivates you to keep moving on. She also taught for all the students at the school. Also when the school board fired her she still gave them respect. This shows that Mama has the most respect. She also helps her kids with their work and also manages to care Papa after he gets hurt.
