the land is important to them because, it's the only piece of land they own and that it makes the logans different .it makes them different because other african americans usually sharecropped unlike the logans but they did have trouble with the land because mr.granger tries to get the land back even though every time he tries fails.Mr.granger wants the land back because he wants every piece of land his family owned so he wants that land back. And it's important because big ma's husband bought the land and they want to keep those 400 acres of land.They do have trouble paying the mortgage due to Mr.granger and the bank . Also the trees are very use full and part of the land is messed up from the previous book when Mr.anderson cut most the trees

You could have also said that the lot need the land to plant cotton and grow food to sell at the market.Also the logans only work to pay the morgage that paul still needed to pay. They can live by the cotton and food that they grow on their land.
