During the 1930s, shortly after slavery was ended, colored skinned people were set free and were able to enjoy their lives for the most part. Although slavery had ended, racism and segregation were still alive and caused many problems for black or dark skinned people in the community. The Klu Klux Klan was a very large threat, white people had over powered dark skinned people, and dark skinned people were being paid very little for their work. So much so, some families had to resort to share cropping. I personally, fictional or not, think segregation in any form or any place is wrong. I am thankful that our ways in the society of now have changed. For Cassie and other family members of the Logan's, they had to experience racial slurs, white people overpowering them, murdering of dark skinned people, harassment from white people and the KKK, and overall unequal treatment. Was it fair? No. Yet, with courage and perseverance, the Logan's are able to continue to push through society and despite such obstacles as segregation.

I like how you added historical information that you know it gives them a idea of how racism was back then .Some people might think its just about your skin color but its also has to do with the KKK and how they treated dark skinned people .And it sounds just like if it were based of a true story which makes you wanna search up stuff to learn more about this historical event and gives you an visual idea of how Cassie and her family might be feeling at this time .

Nice history lesson! The Logan's do face a lot of racial problems because they are independent and actually have there own land which can make some people like the Wallace's jealous. It is a good thing that the Logan's were strong and beat these issues they believe in themselves and not what others say. They keep persevering right through it. No, the racism was not fair just because your a different race than someone else doesn't mean that your better than them that is what the KKK and some white people of the time thought. The thread was superb. -Collin Kramer
