In the books Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry and Song of the Trees the Logan family shows a lot of self respect. To start off in the Novela, "Song Of The Trees" Papa says"That maybe. But it won't matter none. Cause I'll always have myself respect" He says this after Mr. Andersen says you won't always have that black box. Many people believe that the Logan's most important thing is there land, but I believe it is there self respect that helps them through tough times and the land grew do to there self respect. Also, in the book Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry Mama states to Cassie that they do not say miss or mister to the "white folk'" out of respect but fear, but they respect the "black'" people and call them miss and mister also. This shows they have self respect and general respect to the people who have gained it. Mama and Papa show their kids this through out the books.

I think you explained everything very clearly.Giving examples from the book really helped me understand what you were saying. You had a reason to back up your information. I also liked that you added the quote from "Song of the Trees."
